  • Tuck left England for New Zealand in June, 1892

    He was promoted to Acting Sergeant-Major at Pretoria on 31 August 1900.

    Departed South Africa on the S.S. 'Orient'. He rejoined the 7 NZMR as Mounted Instructor (Staff Sergeant-Major).

    On returning to New Zealand in January, 1901, Tuck was appointed as Mounted Drill Instructor to the New Zealand Volunteer Forces with the rank of Sergeant-Major. (St Clair Inglis, p.11) AWMM
