  • On his return to New Zealand he was recruiting at Hammer Springs, Canterbury in 1901. He later studied farming at Lincoln College, but then entered Medical School at Edinburgh and carried out post graduate work there.' (Stowers, p.153)

    Bowie married Miss Florence Reid in Scotland in 1915. He returned to New Zealand after a year's hospital work in Sydney. In New Zealand he was appointed Medical Superintendent of the Cook Hospital, Gisborne. (Stowers, p.153)

    Had two sons, W. Bowie and Douglas Bowie, who both served in World War Two.
