  • In your memory Albert.

Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to know you as a great Uncle, but one of your brothers (Martin Anker) was my maternal grandfather. Through family stories, I heard about you and since then, every ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, I remember you and Martin.

That you died so young is a tragedy, though I imagine that you believed strongly in what you were doing. I am in awe that both you and Martin left England, went to foreign lands, joined their armies and then went to war and both so young. That is unimaginable to me!

It fills me with sadness that you never had the opportunity to live out your life as you should have and who knows what you could have achieved if given the chance.

You are a legend to me and you will never really die while we remember you and your supreme sacrifice.

Thank you from me and my family.
