  • Was an apprentice baker to W. Wright & Co, Dunedin, and following that was employed by F. Creamer in Stratford.

    On 9 April 1916, he left Alexandria, Egypt, aboard the Londonderry Castle (ship) for France.

    He held several postings as a cook from 1916 to 1919.

    Returned to New Zealand aboard the "Pakeha" from Tilbury , England on 30 May 1919.

    Total period of service abroad: 3 years and 143 days. AWMM
