  • Fred Annabell was my grandmother's youngest brother, and lived at Ngamatapouri, in the Upper Waitotara Valley prior to going to war. He was a skilled axeman and worked on the family farm. I held his War Medals that were given to me by my Grandmother (Violet Washington (nee Annabell) when I was a young girl. A few years ago I handed the medals over to Fred's grandsons, whom I hope will treasure them always. May he Rest in Peace.
