      Citation for Military Medal (MM): "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the operations round Messines on the 7th and 8th June 1917. Rifleman Waller acted as a stretcher-bearer. He worked continuously day and night under very heavy fire, tending and carrying back wounded. He was conspicuous for his courage and cheerfulness and devotion to duty." (London Gazette, 16 August 1917, p. 8430, Rec. No. 2411) Rifleman Henry T. Waller, third son of Mrs. J. H. Waller, nurse, of Te Kuiti, has been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field. Rifleman Waller, who left New Zealand with the seventh reinforcements, was wounded on September 10.
