    Captain John Bird Hine, wounded, is the member for Stratford in the House of Representatives. He was elected as a member of the Reform Party in 1908, and re-elected in 1911. Captain Hine has a farm at Toko, near Stratford, where his wife now resides. He left for the front last year. (Auckland Weekly News, 15 November 1917, p. 21) AWMM

  • Second embarkation with the 38th Reinforcements, Mounted Rifles Brigade. Left aboard SS Manuka on 13 June 1918. Arrived at Suez, Egypt on 3 August 1918.

    Manuka then transfer to Morea at Sydney for Suez [1916]. Manuka then transhipped to "Port Lyttelton" at Sydney for Suez [1918] AWMM
