    Information has been received by Mrs. Thomas McGahan, of Tuakau, that her son, Private Thomas McGahan, of the Third Pioneer Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces, has been wounded and admitted to Northampton War Hospital, England, on October 11, 1917. Mrs. McGahan's youngest son was killed in the battle of the Somme, and another is a member of the Mounted Rifles in Palestine. (Auckland Weekly News, 15 November 1917, p. 21) AWMM
