  • William Vincent Ellery was born on the 11th January 1893 at Blacks Point, Reefton. His father was John Ellery a mine manager, and his mother was Emily Vincent. William was the oldest of six children. He married Mona May McLean at Reefton on 14 June 1923.. Mona was the daughter of John Marr McLean and Ada Marion Jones. Mona was born 1st May 1903 and had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He worked at the Battery at Waiuta from about 1924. They had two children, Rita Emily May Ellery, born 19 March 1924 at Reefton, and Marie Patricia Ellery, born 16 March 1933 at Reefton. William Vincent Ellery died of spinal meningitis on 31 August 1939 aged 45 and was buried at the Reefton cemetery.
