    Appointment as Lance Corporal confirmed, 19 December 1916.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 7 January 1917; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 5 February 1917.
    Admitted to North Midland Casualty Clearing Station, 26 March 1917 (pneumonia).
    Died, North Midland Casualty Clearing Station, 28 March 1917 (pneumonia).
