  • Reginald Miles was the son of Brigadier Reginald Miles (2/1045, 6191) and Aimee Zita Miles; husband of Wenonah Mary Miles.

    Miles transferred from the Royal Air Force (RAF) to the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy in October 1938

    Remembered on the Takapuna War Memorial, The Strand, Takapuna.

    The (A) at the end of Miles' rank indicates that he was a member of the Air Branch of the Navy (Fleet Air Arm). Although the Glorious was sunk on 8 June 1940, men were known to still be alive in the water on the following day. However, traditionally the 8th has been given as the official date of death for most, if not all, of the lost. AWMM
