    • After her Grandfather's death (1903) Gertrude commenced nutrsing training at Wellington Hospital and in 1912 was appointed Matron at Taruanga Hospital, a position she reamined until she volunteered for service in the hospital ship 'Maheno' during WWI. She was invalided home in 1918 and appointed Matron at Gisborne and Coromandel Hospitals Public - Lorraine M - Researcher - 30 November 2016 - Research
