    • Private Clark won a competition on board the Pakeha for an essay on discipline that he wrote for the ship's magazine. See 'The Pakeha" October 1916, pp.5, 20. AWMM
    • While at the front in Europe he requested equipment for a printing press. He was sebt to London to get what he required. He set up a moveable printing press which with a small troop of men moved it as the troops advanced. He was instructed to set it up just behind the front line. He would find abandoned sheds ir barns. He was able to put together news to share with the troops of news from back home and from other contigents and orogress from other battles He moved through Belguim, via a town called Dickibusch. It has two commonwealth cemeteries but no New Zealanders were buried there. Promotions had to be received in paper form before pay could be increased so with the help of the printing press AB Clark was able to facilitate the prompt payment increases as he would print the orders of promotions Public - Maureen - Other Relative - 18 April 2015 - Family oral history

  • To my great gradfather. Thank you for your contribution to the forces by providing an up to date newspaper at the front. Your skill and determination to stay at the front and convey to the men updates of promotions which enabled them to increase their pay much quicker than waiting for papers from London. Updates from other battles were also able to be shared amongst the troops. Thank you for surviving and sharing your rich legacy with your family
