    Commanding Officer (CO) of New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 4 Battalion, 1915-1919.

    Commanding Officer (CO) of Otago Infantry Regiment, 1 Battalion, New Zealand, July 1924 - June 1929.

    Commanding Officer (CO) of 3 New Zealand Infantry Brigade, 1930-31.

    Became a partner in Russell, McVeagh, Bagnall and Macky law firm in 1931.

    Commanding Officer (CO) of 7 New Zealand Infantry Brigade in UK, 1940.

    Commanding Officer (CO) of 6 New Zealand Infantry Brigade in Middle East, May 1940 - February 1942.
