They had three children, Alastair, Elizabeth, and Susan.He was quite fond of his children and grandchildren and was willing to make personal sacrifices for their sake.Gordon Kay was actively involved in the Fruitgrowers' Federation during his post-war working life as a West Auckland orchardist's and his favourite hobby for many years was rifle shooting.
