  • Ware was brought before a court-martial on 15 March 1943 on several charges: 1) Theft of property from the NAAF Institute and 2) resisting arrest. He was found guilty and given 28 days' detention. His sentence was later suspended after a review of his case.

    On 1 April 1943, he forfeited 14 days' pay when he broke out of his barracks.

    On 28 April 1943, Ware was placed on the medical roll (due to a wound he had suffered in late 1941) to be shipped back to New Zealand. He was sent home from Egypt aboard the SS Oranje on 24 June 1943, arriving in Wellington on 15 July 1943. AWMM
