  • Edwards was a British citizen who served with the Royal Engineers prior to World War 1. In 1913, he was attached to the NZ Military Forces. When World War 1 began, he enlisted with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF).

    Appointed Officer Commanding (OC) of NZ Divisional Signal Company, NZ Engineers, 27 August 1914. Served with NZEF 1914-1918.

    Made Brevet Major, 8 November 1915.

    Made Acting Lieutenant Colonel, 8 April 1918.

    Rejoined British Army, Royal Engineers (RE), 1 September 1918.

    Commanding Officer (CO) of 40 Fortress Company, RE, Hong Kong, 1920-22.

    Served in UK, 1922-25.

    Served with Gibraltar Garrison, 1 Fortress Company, RE, 1925-30.

    Made Lieutenant Colonel, RE, 1 June 1929.

    Served at Aldershot, UK, 1930-33.

    Put on Half Pay active List, 1933 in recognition of 30 years service. AWMM
