    He became Sec Commander in Greece on 6 April 1941

    Promoted to Captain and appointed Adjutant of the NZ Engineers, 1941-42

    In 1943, he was seriously wounded in North Africa and evacuated to New Zealand. He returned to the Middle East in January 1944

    Promoted to Major and appointed Officer Commanding (OC) of 7 Field Company, NZ Engineers, 1944

    Returned to New Zealand in 1946
