  • Husband of Eunice, father of and Mark and Sarah

    Student of Auckland Grammar school

    Member from 1965, then on year later leader for four years of the RAF aerobatics display team. He created the first nine-ship precision formation team, and his “Diamond 9” remains the team’s signature formation.

    Founder of the Old Flying Machine Company, and with his son Mark restored and operated Second World War combat aircraft at Duxford. They performed in several films.

    Display pilot for more than 40 years. Leader of the Red Arrows whose skill and vision established it as the world's premier display team

    A memorial service was held at St Clement Danes, The Strand AWMM
