During his period of over five years service with 2 New Zealand Division, Lieutenant Colonel Nicholson ... has successively held the appointments of Troop Commander, Adjutant, Staff Captain RA, Battery Commander both Field and Anti-Tank and has the almost unequalled record of having commanded for a period in action the following Regiments of 2 New Zealand Division Artillery: 4 NZ Field Regiment, 5 NZ Field Regiment, 6 NZ Field Regiment and 7 NZ Anti-Tank Regiment.
