  • William D'Ath was the son of Joseph H. and I. M. D'Ath, of Manakau, Manawatu Line, New Zealand.

    Disembarked Suez, 20 December 1915, and admitted same day to NZ General Hospital, Abbassia (bruised back and shoulder); discharged to Aotea Convalescent Home, Heliopolis, 31 December 1915; discharged to Base Details, Zeitoun, 10 January 1916.
    Arrived at 2nd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, Ismailia, 6 February 1916; transferred to Machine Gun Section, 18 March 1916.
    Embarked Alexandria for France, 6 April 1916.
    Admitted to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 26 June 1916 (measles); transferred to 4th Stationary Hospital, 14 July 1916 (otitis media, bronchitis); discharged to unit, in the field, 28 July 1916.
    Reported wounded in action, 15 September 1916; subsequently confirmed killed in action, 15 September 1916; buried 3 miles NW of Combles.
