  • James Davidson was the son of Mrs. Isabella Davidson, of Taradale Rd., Dannevirke, New Zealand.

    Disembarked Suez, 10 April 1916.
    Embarked Port Said to join the British Expeditionary Force in France, 13 April 1916.
    Posted to D Company, 4th Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 18 May 1916.
    Found guilty, 17 June 1916, of being absent without leave(failure to attend 2 pm parade, failure to attend 9 pm roll call): awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2.
    Found guilty by Field General Court Martial, 1 August 1916, of using threatening language to a Superior Officer: awarded 56 days' Field Punishment No 2.
    Admitted to hospital, 7 September 1916; rejoined unit, 10 September 1916 (no details recorded).
    Wounded in action, 15 September 1916; rejoined unit, 20 September 1916.
    Killed in action, France, 8 November 1916.
