    • Listed as wounded in the return of Killed, Wounded, and Missing of the Troops serving at the Campa Waitara, 27 June 1860 AWMM
    • James Gill Plunkett was born in Belfast Ireland in 1828 a son of James Plunkett and Elizabeth Gill. He married Mary Ann Swan in 1851 in Cork while he was in the Army Barracks. They were in St Pancras England when their son James was born that same year.He died in 1852. 1853 found them at the Sandhurst Barracks in Bendigo Victoria Australia, where daughter Jane was b 1853 & D 1854.This was followed by the b&d of twins in 1855 followed closely by the death of Jane of perpetual fever.After going AWOL in Melbourne, James Gill Plunkett arrived in NZ to fight in the land wars.
