  • Son of John Nonnet Simon and Emma Simon, of 201, Nith St., Invercargill, New Zealand.

    Two brothers enlisted Max Agustus Sedgley Simon (58150) with the NZEF and the elder brother, Faulkner Simon (580) enlisted with the Australian Imperial Forces he was killed at Gallipoli.

    Before his enlistment, Faulkner Simon was a sailor on the sailing ship "Alexa" which traded between Sydney and the Gilbert Islands.

    He was killed while carrying ammunition for the machine gun.

    His personal effects, returned to his mother, were cards, a prayer book, a tin case and a safety razor.

    Religion is recorded as Church of England on the attestation form, and by the family as Presbyterian AWMM
