  • He was the son of Captain Georges Martin of Hokianga, New Zealand. He was Harbourmaster at Hokianga before enlistment.

    Husband of Margaret Martin of Epsom, Auckland

    Drowned when serving with HMS Lobster in operations in North Russia aged 32 - body not recovered and recorded on Chatham Naval Memorial, born Omapere Hokianga, Reported in Wanganui Herald 3/8/1915 as serving in the government steamer HINEMOA as an acting Second Officer who resigned to join the NZEF reinforcements - he joined Wellington Regiment 1917, and took discharge from NZEF 15/1/1918 and joined the RNR in Britain. Reported as a Sub-Lieutenant serving in HMS CELTIC PRIDE in September 1918 based at Malta AWMM
