  • His estimated enlistment date is 9 January 1902

Michael J Mulhearn (sometimes Mulhern) enlisted under his brother's name, Thomas Mulhearn. While Michael Mulhearn was at war, Thomas lived at the Hill Top Hotel with his wife Lucy Mulhearn, and had three children with her.

Private Mulhearn's acceptance form for the Imperial South African War Medal is made out to T Mulhearn but signed Michael J Mulhearn. A Justice of the Peace has added a note to the form certifying that it was in fact Michael J Mulhearn who went to South Africa in the Eight Contingent.

Michael J Mulhearn (sometimes Mulhern) enlisted under his brother's name, Thomas Mulhearn.
