  • Driver Collins enlisted with service number 10/1211. However, his family state that his serial number was 5/1211a. Possibly he transferred from the Wellington Infantry Batallion to the New Zealand Army Services Corps after embarkation and was allocated an "A" number.

    As he embarked to Egypt with the 2nd Reinforcements on 14 December 1915, Driver Collins may also be entitled to a 1914-1915 Star in addition to his other medals.

    Driver Collins married a widow with one child in February 1920. They subsequently had eight children (seven daughters and one son). AWMM
