  • Jan Green (Bower's granddaughter) provides the following biography:

    Following the Depression when Vincent was in Mangapehi, his wife Dolly worked as the Head Chef at the Hotel Australia in Rotorua, where their son Jack went to school.

    During World War Two, Dolly moved back to Mangapehi with Vincent where they had a tearooms. Their son Jack's name appears on the Roll of Honour at Mangapehi.

    Following World War Two, they moved to Lake Rotoiti, near Rotorua. Dolly died in 1952 but Vincent stayed at the lake, retired by this time. In 1965 he moved to Thames where he died in 1972 AWMM
