  • Gunter came out to New Zealand from Engalnd at the age of 3 and grew up in Christchurch. He had one sister, Francis, and a brother, Ray

    While on active service Gunter served as an Officers Batman, drove heavy trucks, was a part of the motorcycle dispatch and provided haircuts. He also did clerical work in the Army Records Office while recovering from wounds received during active service in the Middle East

    He is described by his family as a gifted musician on the piano accordion, mouth organ and concertina. He is also described as being a very hard worker who owned his own home and who was well respected and now missed. AWMM
