Instructions on back of painting include: Description: Hair Dark Auburn, Eyes Light Brown, Black Eyebrows, fair complexion. Dress Khaki uniform and hat, khaki pugaree with red stripe.     George Dudley arrived at Sling Camp in England on 27 July 1916. He went to France on 3 September 1916. He returned to England for hospital treatment. He was returned to France as 'A Class' on 2 August 1917. He serve in France until until 29 June 1918 when he was granted leave to the United Kingdom. His leave ended on 10 September 1918.

    In total George Dudley served for three years and seventy five days of which two years, three hundred and four days were overseas.
