    • George Davies was the son of Everett Davies, of Caversham, Dunedin; husband of Ruby Pearl Davies, of 10 Manning Street, Newton, Auckland, New Zealand. (served as Davis).

Served as Davis and is listed in Nominal Rolls and Roll of Honour as Davis, but his name was Davies. Listed by National Archives as DAVIS, George Everett - [a.k.a. DAVIES, George Everett]

Next of Kin: Mrs R. P. Davis, Newton, Auckland (Roll of Honour, Auckland Province 1914-1918 (Volume 1)) AWMM
    • George Everett Davies/Davis was an alias of Charles TOHILL of Dunedin. His parents were John Tohill and his wife Sarah Ann Everett.

When George Everett Davis married Ruby Pearl Smith in Auckland in 1912, he listed his parents as John Davis and Sarah Ann Everett on the marriage registration, gave his birth place as Dunedin, and in all ways other than his own name matched the details of Charles Tohill.

Upon enlisting in the NZEF, "George" used mostly correct information about his birth place and parents - he just changed his parents last name from Tohill to Davis/Davies.

The Tohill family placed a death notice in 1917, and later In Memoriam notices in the newspaper for Charles Tohill. They contain the same date and place of death details as well as regiment etc that match the details of George Everett Davis/Davies.

On archway there is a 1929 defence file about Charles Tohill, where his father and brother provide the name of his alias as George Everett Davis/Davies.
