    • Son of Elizabeth Lane (formerly Davis), of Te Teko, Thames, and Mark Davis.

      Commenced duty on 2 January 1917. AWMM
    • Private H. (Bert) Davis, killed in action in France on September 29, was the youngest son of the late Mr. Mark Davis, of Gisborne, and brother of Mrs. A. Symons, Taneatua, Whakatane, and Mrs F. W. Joynt, Ponsonby. He was at various times in the Waikato, Avcndale and. Warkworth districts, returning to Gisborne some five or six years ago. Private Davis enlisted Mn>the 13th Reinforcements but owing to 'ill-health he was discharged, He re-entered camp later, and sailed with the 24th Reinforcements. He was 29 years of age.
