    DAVY.—On September 16, at his residence, Eight Avenue, Tauranga, William Vinicombe, beloved husband of Mary Ursula (Minnie), and loving father of Dr. Davy, of Jansenville, South Africa, and Mrs. Amos Smith, Tauranga; aged 82 years.
    Funeral will leave Holy Trinity Church at 2 p.m. to-morrow (Friday).

    TAURANGA, Thursday
    The death has occurred of Mr. William Vinicombe Davy, aged 82. Mr. Davy came of a very old Cornish family and was a descendant of Sir Humphrey Davy, one of the greatest of chemists and well known for his invention of the safety lamp for miners. Mr. Davy was born in Penzance and came to New Zealand in 1875 in the ship Halcyone. He took up land in Buckland, where he remained until 1919, when he retired to Tauranga.
