  • Good memories Grandad of your extra large vegetable garden and numerous fruit trees. The fresh beans and peas straight from the garden were so good. I remember you telling me about the time you were having lunch in the desert and a bullet landed right in front of you and sprayed your lunch with sand. So close. Amazing stories to be told and I just wish I had heard more of them. Will be thinking of you this ANZAC day.

  • Thanks Grandad for the memories, especially the light hearted stories of the war. Always remember him telling us why he had no hair - "I was hiding behind a hedge & a bullet raced through pulling all my hair out!" All the fabulous fruit trees & vege garden at your place in Papakura. Great memories.

  • A great memory - Thanks Grandad for all the first covers of stamps that you would send me when I was little. I still have them saved - Dad bundled them up just as he used to bundle everything else of importance.
