I am not a relative of Victor Dawson, but my great uncle, Thomas Burt, is the only other New Zealander buried in Forenville Cemetery with Victor. He was a driver in WWI and his date of death is recorded as 9/10/1918, the same date as Victor. I am very interested in any commemorations in 2018 and would welcome the chance to remember these two Kiwi soldiers on the centenary of their deaths.

My grandfather, a British soldier, is also buried in Forenville Military Cemetery. He was killed in action on the 8th October 1918. If any of Victor’s family see this note and have not been to Forenville, I would like to assure them that it is in a lovely rural setting and beautifully tended.
I would also like to inform Victor’s family that I am organising a small centenary commemoration event at Forenville to be held on the 8th October 2018. It is a long way to come but if anyone can make the trip to France they are assured of a warm welcome not only by us Brits, but also the local French people.
