    Disembarked Suez, Egypt, 20 December 1915. Taken on strength 1st Battalion, Auckland Infantry Regiment, Moascar Camp, Ismailia, 4 February 1916. Admitted to New Zealand Auxillary Hospital, Ismailia, 3 March 1916; discharged and rejoined Battalion, 18 March 1916.
    Embarked from Port Said, Egypt on board HMT 'Franconia', 6 April 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 12 April 1916.
    Wounded in action on 27 September 1916 and admitted to General Hospital, Rouen, 28 September 1916 (gun shot wound upper extremities); evacuated to England, 3 October 1916, and admitted to No 1 New Zealand General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 4 October 1916; to New Zealand Convalescent Depot, Hornchurch, 13 November 1916; discharged and attached to New Zealand Command Depot, Codford, 17 February 1917. Marched in to Sling Camp, Wiltshire, and taken on strength 3rd Battalion, Auckland Infantry Regiment, 15 April 1917.
    Proceeded overseas with unit to France, 28 May 1917.
    Appointed Lance Corporal, in the field, 23 June 1917.
    Promoted Corporal, 1 September 1917.
    Promoted Sergeant, 1 November 1917.
    Wounded in action and admitted to New Zealand Field Ambulance, 20 November 1917 (gassed); admitted to No 8 Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 21 November 1917; transferred to HMHS 'St Denis' and evacuated to England, 24 November 1917.
    Admitted to Military Hospital, Bethnal Green, London, 26 November 1917; admitted to No 2 New Zealand General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 14 January 1918; discharged to New Zealand Convalescent Depot, Hornchurch, 25 January 1918; examined by Medical Board and classified unfit for active service, 3 March 1918.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Glasgow, Scotland, on board HMNZT 'Athenic', 1 April 1918; disembarked Auckland, 16 May 1918.
    Discharged, no longer physically fit for war service on account of wounds received in action (gas poisoning), 11 July 1918.
