    Enlisted with rank of Sergeant and posted to No 2 Stationary Hospital, New Zealand Medical Corps, 5th Reinforcements, Trentham Camp, Upper Hutt, 31 May 1915.
    Proceeded overseas from Wellington on board HMNZT 'Maunganui', 13 June 1915; disembarked Suez, Egypt, 27 July 1915
    Admitted to New Zealand General Hospital, Pont de Koubbeh, Cairo, 18 October 1915 (initially Influenza, then developed Paratyphoid Fever).
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Egypt as invalid on board NZHMHS 'Maheno', 20 November 1915; disembarked New Zealand, 1 January 1916.
    Found to be no longer fit for war service by Medical Board, Christchurch, 8 May 1916 (permanent debility resulting from Paratyphoid contracted on active service).
    Discharged, no longer physically fit for war service on account of illness contracted while on active service, Christchurch, 30 May 1916. AWMM
