  • George Dempsey was my Mother-in-law's, Eveline Hitchcock - nee Dempsey - brother. She always remembered him with love.
    While he was overseas George sent Eveline a long silk scarf which she wore at her wedding. She was a member of the Salvation Army and was married in uniform, so the scarf was the only adornment on the sombre wedding dress.
