OBITUARY:

The death has occurred of Major James Robert Bodley, of Mount Albert, a veteran of the Great War. He left New Zealand as a second lieutenant in the Main Body, and rose to the rank of major before the close of the war. For a time he was second in command of the Reserve Battalion at Sling. Major Bodlev took up farming at Katikati. Otoroanga and Oratia after the war. He became secretary of the Soldiers' Civil Re-establishment League, and afterwards served in the claims office of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic and War Relief Association. For five years he was secretary of the Western Suburbs branch of the Returned Servicemen's Association. Recently he was a battalion commander in the Home Guard. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Both sons are serving overseas. AWMM
