  • Fred married my grandmother when I was about 5 years old. He was a lovely man who entertained a small boy with his amputated right arm. I used to enjoy playing in his wonderful award winning garden in Grants Road, Papanui. Fred loved his bowls and I remember pictures of him playing hanging in his house.
