  • Son of Henry and Rosetta Bottle, of Arun St., Oamaru, Otago, New Zealand. Brother of William Charles Bottle 8/12

    October 19, 1915 Trooper Bottle was on a ship bound for Greece when it was struck by a torpedo. The ship sank with the loss of 167 people but Trooper Bottle and a mate, Jack Broom, clung to a plank for 7 hours before being rescued by the Royal Navy. AWMM
