  • Arthur was the son of Frederick Johnson & Martha BROOKS (nee Prescott). Frederick was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England. Martha was born in NZ and both her parents were from Ireland. The family settled and lived in Ruakaka, Northland.
    They had nine children – Edith Rachel (b1885), Frederick George (b1889), Arthur Johnson (b1891), Ellen Mary (b1892), Martha Matilda (b1894), Fanny (b1896), Lottie (b1896), Robert James (b1898) and George Wilfred (b1900).
    Three brothers enlisted and served overseas during WW1 - Frederick George (13/1011) & Arthur Johnson (13/1010) both enlisted on the 13th Feb 1915. Then younger brother Robert James (44625) enlisted later on the 11th Dec 1916.
    In 1919, Arthur married Sara McLEAN. They had four daughters – June Marie (b1920), Heather Norma (b1923), Nona Ellen (b1925) and Norma Olwyn (b1930). Public - Sandra - Researcher - 5 November 2018 - Waipu Museum
