  • Frederick was the son of Frederick Johnson & Martha BROOKS (nee Prescott). Frederick (senior) was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England. Martha was born in NZ and both her parents were from Ireland. The family settled and lived in Ruakaka, Northland.
    They had nine children – Edith Rachel (b1885), Frederick George (b1889), Arthur Johnson (b1891), Ellen Mary (b1892), Martha Matilda (b1894), Fanny (b1896), Lottie (b1896), Robert James (b1898) and George Wilfred (b1900).
    Three brothers enlisted and served overseas during WW1 - Frederick George (13/1011) & Arthur Johnson (13/1010) both enlisted on the 13th Feb 1915. Then younger brother Robert James (44625) enlisted later on the 11th Dec 1916.
    In 1921, he married Deronda FOSTER. They had five children – Frederick Arnold (b1922), Edith Deronda (b1924), Dawn Ellen (1924), George Wilfred (b1928) and Elva Frances (b1929). Public - Sandra - Researcher - 5 November 2018 - Waipu Museum

    Brooks, Frederick George (veteran First World War, Regtl No. 13/1011). On March 31, 1971, at Middlemore Hospital (late of Bombay & Waipu), dearly loved husband of Ronda and loved father of Arnold (Bombay), Edith (Mrs Wright, Hamilton), Dawn (Mrs Manson, Whangaporoa), Dick (Pukekohe East) and Elva (Mrs Smith, Hamilton) and loved father-in-law of Clive, Bruce and Norman, loved grandpop of 11 grandchildren; in his 83rd year. A service will be held at the Anglican Church, Bombay, today (Friday), at 11a.m., the funeral then leaving for Pukekohe Returned Servicemen’s Cemetery.
