  • David Devon was the son of Hugh and Margaret Devon; husband of Margaret Devon, of Gimmerburn, New Zealand.

    War service: Egypt, Palestine
    Promoted Temporary Corporal, Zeitoun, 4 November 1915. Confirmed as Shoeing Smith Corporal, Kantara, 4 November 1915.
    Proceeded to Canal Zone, 23 January 1916.
    Admitted to NZ Mounted Field Ambulance, Ferry Post, 27 March 1916 (influenza); discharged to duty, 31 March 1916; rejoined unit, Salkia, 2 April 1916.
    Promoted Temporary Farrier Sergeant, 13 June 1916; relinquished Temporary Appointment, 24 July 1916.
    Appointed Temporary Farrier Sergeant, 15 August 1916; relinquished Temporary Appointment, 28 November 1916.
    Appointed Temporary Farrier Sergeant, 13 February 1917; relinquished Temporary Appointment, 30 April 1917.
    Appointed Temporary Farrier Sergeant, 20 June 1917; appointment confirmed, 20 June 1917.
    Wounded in action, remaining at duty, 4 November 1917.
