  • 'I can remember a man coming to our house who said to me ‘I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for your dad. He saved my life during World War 1.' He also said, ‘your dad, in the dark of night went around the enemy bunkers and through hand Grenades into them, and he was on his own. France celebrated a national holiday for winning that battle which your dad contributed too.' It wasn’t until the last year of his life did he start to talk about WW1.' Family source. AWMM
