  • Son of Robert and Mary Ada (nee Brown) Caldwell. Husband of Helen Beatrice (nee MacKay).

    Three brothers served in WW1 Kenneth Sholto Caldwell (WWI 24/20, WWII N/N); Lindsley Archibald Caldwell (6/2088) known as Archie and Robert Hugh Oakley Caldwell (40143) known as Hugh.

    He also served as an Officer with the Territorial Forces and was appointed as a Major (Temp) with the Home Guard, Huntly Battalion in 1941. In 1944 he was posted to the Reserve of Officers.

    He kept a diary writing of his personal experiences . His sons transcribed and published these 6 notebooks in 2015 as "Father's War". AWMM
