    • LETTER FROM A MOKOIA BOY
Second-Lieut. J. Catchpole, son of Mr and Mrs. A. B. Catehpoie, of Mokoia, who recently received his commission as Second Lieutenant writes interestingly from somewhere in Fiance, on the anniversary of his leaving Gallipoli. He says, inter alia, that feeling among the men of the army is one of strong confidence. He is very scathing in his condemnation of the men who do not realise the duty they owe to their country and show it by enlisting. With his letters came a copy of the "souvenir edition" of the Mokoian, being a record of the early stages of the journeyings of the 4th Battalion N.Z.B. (E.L.0.) it was published on board an H.M. N.Z. transport in February, 1916, and is a publication full of interest and amusement. The literary matter, which it is said was edited by the late Sergt. R. L. Armit, is singularly good and full of point. A list of the officers, noncoms., and men is given, and it is with a feeling of sadness one notices the number of good men who have made the great sacrifice, or have been wounded in the great offensive in France.
