When Rifleman Donn's section was held up by machine gun fire, he worked to the flank; rushed the post single-handed, putting the gun out of action, and killing two of the crew besides wounding the third. He then jumped into the trench and assisted in cleaning up the crew of a second machine gun which had been approached from the other flank. He showed great determination and a ready grasp of the position, and it was due to his splendid work that many casualties were avoided.
