    • On July 22nd 1917 members of the Auckland Mounted Rifles were engaged in action against Turkish forces in the area of the Wadi Sheria in Palestine. A patrol came under fire and a man's horse fell and the rider broke his arm. Corporal Coleman caught the horse returned to the man and got him on his horse again. He was awarded the Military medal Public - Jenny - Other relative - 21 June 2017 - Official War History of the Auckland Mounted Rifles Regiment 1914- 1919.
