    Wounded in action, 15 September 1916 (gun shot wound, left thigh); admitted to 36th Casualty Clearing Station, 16 September 1916; transferred to Liverpool Merchants' Mobile Hospital, Etaples, 17 September 1916; to England, 24 September 1916, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 25 September 1916. transferred to NZ Convalescent Camp, Hornchurch, 6 December 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 13 March 1917. Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 5 April 1917 (mumps); discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 19 April 1917; attached to NZ Reserve Group, Sling Camp, 28 April 1917.
    Found guilty, 7 July 1917, Sling Camp, of being absent without leave from 10 pm, 2 July, to 6 am, 6 July 1917: awarded 7 days' detention, and forfeited 5 days' pay.
